Restoration

feat-p40Gateguards also undertakes restorations of real or replica airframes for displays purposes. An example is the Donington Park circuit Spitfire MJ255 which was sadly “brought down” by an accident with a lorry. The replica was fully restored to a high standard, and then transported to a location in France where it was placed in a full size diorama to reproduce the fate of the original aircraft to bear that serial number, which crash-landed on D-Day in 1944 (see our Gallery for more photographs).

We are currently close to completing the refurbishment of replica Spitfire Mk.V PL235, which will then be delivered to its home together with a replica Fiesler Fi103 V1 Flying Bomb.

We will shortly commence the full restoration of a replica Nieuport 17, completed in authentic doped fabric. This replica will be made available for sale once refurbished – please contact Gateguards (UK) Ltd if you have any queries.

We hope to start work on the restoration of a replica Messerschmitt 109 before the end of 2011, and will post pictures on our website when this commences.
