Testimonials

All of the replicas created by Gateguards are made precisely to our client’s specifications, and because of this the client’s satisfaction with the end result is paramount. We could tell you how happy our customers are with the service we provide, but we think that they can tell you better themselves. Below are some of the comments and feedback we have received, reproduced with the kind permission of the originators:

In 2011 my Wing Commander, Colonel Patrick Doherty, requested that our Wing obtain a full scale replica Spitfire to be put on permanent display on the base. The 4th Fighter Wing began its existence as the Royal Air Force Eagle Squadrons (flying Spitfires) so this would celebrate our distinguished heritage.

I searched the internet and found two companies. The first company was hesitant to even commit to building the Spitfire and wanted quite a lot of money for the project. Then I found Gateguards, UK. David Hobson and his colleagues immediately sent me an elegant and highly detailed proposal that included photographs of a Spitfire they had already built. Gateguards, UK could build the aircraft to our specified model, paint scheme, and in a timely fashion. And, they could do so for considerably less than the other company!

The Spitfire was built in the markings and paint scheme of Flight Officer William Dunn, the first American ace of World War II. The aircraft was shipped to Seymour Johnson AFB where David and his team arrived to put the aircraft together and supervise its lift and attachment to a tall pedestal. In only a few hours our magnificent Spitfire was put on permanent display for us to enjoy and share with our visitors.

I cannot begin to express our complete satisfaction with the quality, cost and delivery of our Spitfire. Gateguards, UK is a professional organization that produces an amazing product. I am so pleased with our Spitfire that I fully intend to ask my new Wing Commander (she takes over command in a few weeks) if it would be possible to have Gateguards, UK manufacture a full scale replica World War II P-47 Thunderbolt to put on permanent display. I give this most excellent company, and its people, my very highest recommendation.

I am providing all my contact information below. Feel free to contact me regarding my experience with Gateguards, UK. I can also send you pictures of our beautiful Spitfire.

Gate Guards UK supplied a replica P-51D mustang airframe to Pacific Studio for the National Park Service project at the Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site at Moton Field (hangar 2). The model is an acute representation of the actual aircraft, and the care and level of detail of the construction are outstanding. David Hobson and his team of fabricators and artists are knowledgeable beyond the level required to produce the replica aircrafts. During the process of fabrication, they shared stories and anecdotes about the history of this and other WWII aircraft, which is a testament to their passion for recreating these important historical replicas. The installation of the model was well planned and executed flawlessly. I would highly recommend GGUK for custom fabrication work, especially the recreation of historical aircraft. As the expectation to provide engaging and historically accurate exhibits grows, having a dedicated, knowledgeable and talented fabricator such as GGUK is essential. .
